IIT Madras Zanzibar has introduced a new Bachelor of Science (BS) programme in Chemical Process Engineering for the academic year 2025-26. This four-year full-time undergraduate degree program in the Zanzibar campus is open to candidates of all nationalities, including Indians. The programme offers a curriculum blending core chemical engineering fundamentals with practical laboratory work, industry-aligned projects, and electives that encourage interdisciplinary learning.
IIT Madras Zanzibar is the first-ever international campus of an IIT. The first Academic Year (2023-24) at IITM Zanzibar commenced in October 2023. This new programme would be delivered by a faculty team from IIT Madras, IITM Zanzibar, and partner institutions, as mentioned in the press release.

–IB Diploma
–Cambridge AS & A Level
Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics are mandatory subjects. The classes will commence on 6th October 2025. The unique aspects of this course include
–IIT Madras degree, with curriculum and pedagogy from IIT Madras
–Strong core in chemical process engineering with concentrations in data science, energy, and sustainability
–Capstone project in coordination with the local industry
The last date to apply is July 5 at 11:59 IST. The screening of the applicants for the programme will be conducted on July 13 between 2 pm to 5 pm IST. The interviews for the shortlisted candidates will be held between July 25 and 30.

The Indian Institute of Technology, Madras, introduced two new undergraduate engineering courses for the coming academic year of 2025-26. The courses will be offered through the Department of Applied Mechanics and Biomedical Engineering, which has been at the forefront of interdisciplinary research since the inception of IIT Madras in 1959. Students who have cleared JEE (Advanced) can choose these two new programmes in the upcoming Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JOSAA) Counselling. They will have a total student strength of 40 each.
