IIT Jammu introduces new programme – BSc in Behavioral Sciences, Predictive Analytics, admission through JEE | Education News

The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Jammu has launched a new programme – BSc in behavioral sciences and predictive analytics. This new undergraduate programme is designed by the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences. Candidates eligible for JEE Advanced 2025 can apply for the new UG programme at IIT Jammu. This programme seeks to bring together core ideas from psychology, cognitive science, behavioral economics and sociology, and integrates them with statistical reasoning, data science and predictive modelling. The goal is to help students understand human behavior not just at the level of individual experience, but also as complex, measurable patterns that unfold across social systems and environments. This interdisciplinary programme is designed to bridge the understanding of human behavior with data-driven decision-making.

By integrating insights from behavioral sciences, psychology, sociology, and economics with tools from statistics, data analysis, and computational modelling, students will be equipped to decode complex human patterns and contribute to solutions in domains ranging from mental health and education to policy, design, and technology.

The four-year BSc in behavioral sciences and predictive analytics (BSBSPA) programme will combine the study of human behavior with advanced analytical techniques, offering a unique interdisciplinary education that is essential in today’s data-driven world.

In Year 1 and Year 2, students will undergo core training that builds a strong foundation through courses in Behavioral Sciences, Neurosciences, Social Sciences, Humanities, Economics, Mathematics, Computer Programming, Data Science, Machine Learning, Psychology, and Cognitive Sciences.

In Year 3 and Year 4, students pursue advanced and specialization courses in areas such as Data Science, Machine Learning, Behavioral Sciences, Business Strategy, Psychology, Economics, Humanities & Social Sciences, and Policy Making. The curriculum also includes a semester-long industry experience and a diverse basket of elective courses offered across various departments of IIT Jammu.
